In the closet.
Ok, it's not really in the closet. It's in my kitchen cabinet. And "it" is my fish. And the reason it's in my kitchen cabinet is that is the only place I can think of where my new cat can't get to him. My other cats never cared about the fish and I could have put him in an open bowl on the floor and they would have ignored him. But the new cat is very interested. In devouring my fish. The cat cannot be reasoned with and the fish is not going to spontaneously develop a cat defense mechanism. So. He is in my kitchen cabinet.

It is a sad life, to live in my kitchen cabinet.

But sadder still, to end up dead in the belly of my new cat.

Uh... oxygen?

Get a little fish tank with a cover!

Well, first, my kitchen cabinet is not airtight. He has plenty of oxygen. Second, his bowl IS covered. I'm not so much worried that the cat will take the cover off as I am that he will just knock the entire thing to the floor and get him that way.

That cat is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until your fish is dead.

(sorry...couldn't resist!)

I should have named him The Terminator.

P.S. The fish now resides in the bathroom, until the fateful day I forget to close the bathroom door and The kitten terminator destroys him.
